96c football: build the score play by play

An NFL scoreboard is the sum of separate scoring plays. The six-point touchdown, the optional one- or two-point try and the three-point field goal should be counted independently.

Count the touchdown and try separately

NFL Rule 11 gives six points for a touchdown. After it, a successful kick try adds one, or a successful two-point play adds two. If the try fails, the original six still stand. The arithmetic is 6 + 1 = 7 or 6 + 2 = 8, but seven and eight are outcomes of two scoring actions.

A touchdown does not always appear as a seven-point jump on a live scoreboard. There can be a pause between the touchdown and the try; the displayed number may change again after the try is resolved.

Distinguish field goal and safety

A field goal scores three in the NFL, and a safety scores two. A successful kick try after a touchdown scores only one despite also using a kick. The event label and context tell which rule applies.

Suppose a team begins on 10 points, scores a field goal, then a touchdown and a successful two-point try. Its total becomes 10 + 3 + 6 + 2 = 21. Calling the touchdown 'seven points' would produce the wrong total because this try was worth two.

Know what the example does not settle

The NFL rulebook explains field scoring, not what period a particular betting market uses. A market about regulation time, a full game or an individual play would need its own terms. The cited 96c page's American-football topic does not establish such a market.

Cricket uses runs and wickets; a fishing game uses its own shot and capture rules. Those numbers can also appear live, but NFL scoring arithmetic belongs only to the NFL example. Keep the sport or game name attached to every displayed number.

Questions about games

Is every NFL touchdown worth seven points?

No. The touchdown itself is six. A separate successful kick try adds one; a two-point play adds two, and a failed try adds none.

How many points is an NFL field goal?

Three under NFL Rule 11. A kick try after a touchdown is a different one-point play.

How does 10 become 21 through three plays?

A three-point field goal, six-point touchdown and two-point try add 11: 10 + 3 + 6 + 2 = 21.
